TechNet SA Forum July 19th  8.45 - 4.30  2019

You are invited to a free full-day forum including group discussions, guest speakers and tours. This is a networking forum for all University professional staff in technical areas, convened by TechNet SA.

Tea, coffee and lunch will be supplied.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. It will also mark the move to Adelaide of the Australian National Space Agency and the development of the Smart Sat CRC at UniSA. It has been these forces which have come together to give this year’s TechNet SA Forum a main theme of “Space; the final frontier”. TechNet has continued to look for ways to fuse the main research priorities of country, our universities and show possible synergies of academic research and technical expertise.

A further highlight is the talk about Indigenous traineeships that could be part of universities’ technical makeup and rejuvenation. We will also hear about the use and training of staff to use drones (remotely piloted aircraft systems; RPAS) as a cheap, immediate way for aerial research capability. A further topic will be that safety within the Australian airspace has prompted CASA to review regulation and licencing.

I am pleased to continue our series “A-Day-In-the-Life” of technical officers with two wonderful women from widely varying spheres; medical research and veterinary teaching. Previously these talks have shown us exceptional technical expertise and dedication and consequently two national NEATTS award winners.
